Help Protect Vulnerable Families in Queens

A2A Security Agency Inc. is seeking an experienced Fire & Life Safety Director (T-89/F-89) to work in family shelters and related residential facilities in Queens. This role combines strong fire and life safety oversight with a calm, professional security presence in environments serving vulnerable individuals and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the designated Fire & Life Safety Director (FLSD) during the 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM shift.
  • Monitor and operate fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with FDNY and site procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of exits, stairwells, fire extinguishers, and other life safety equipment.
  • Lead and coordinate response to alarms, smoke, fire, medical emergencies, and other incidents.
  • Direct occupants and staff during evacuations, relocations, and shelter-in-place procedures.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with shelter management, on-site staff, and emergency services, including FDNY.
  • Support access control at entrances and monitor visitor, contractor, and staff movements as needed.
  • Observe resident and visitor activity, identify safety concerns, and report issues promptly.
  • Complete accurate daily activity logs and detailed incident reports.

Qualifications

  • Valid FDNY T-89 or F-89 Fire & Life Safety Director Certificate of Fitness (required).
  • Valid New York State Security Guard License (required).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in security, fire safety, or life safety roles; experience in shelters, residential facilities, healthcare, or similar environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, emergency procedures, and NYC life safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and de-escalation skills; able to interact respectfully with vulnerable populations.
  • Professional appearance, strong reliability, and the ability to follow procedures precisely.
  • Ability to remain attentive and on your feet for extended periods.
  • Evening and weekend availability is required.
