Pour Finisher

POSITION SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walkways, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. One will align forms for sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, patch voids, and use saws to cut expansion joints.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Signals concrete truck driver to position vehicle to facilitate pouring concrete.
- Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms.
- Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel.
- Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency with handheld screen and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
- Smooths and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete.
- Finishes concrete surfaces, and wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to finish.
- Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
- Molds expansion joints and edges.
- Sprinkles colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish.
- Produces rough concrete surface with broom.
- Mixes cement with hoe or concrete-mixing machine.
- Directs subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
- Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces.
- Operates all equipment and tools required to do each job which may include cement mixing machines, power trowels, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and other instruments.
- Maintains equipment and tools to ensure long lasting use.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of one year of experience finishing concrete structures, pier foundations, steel forming systems, and pouring concrete is preferred. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The incumbent also:
- Must be able to lift, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and other similar activities as needed.
