Your Opportunity

We're in the business of limitless potential. From visionary infrastructure to transformative mobility solutions, our Major Projects team works at the forefront of design and delivery for some of North America's most impactful transportation programs.

As a Project Intern, you'll gain meaningful, hands-on experience supporting the coordination, planning, and execution of large-scale transportation projects. Working alongside project managers and technical specialists, you'll help bring design-build and alternative delivery projects to life—while learning the fundamentals of project delivery in a collaborative, professional environment.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to explore how multidisciplinary teams manage complex infrastructure programs from early planning through design and construction support. The position is based in our Burlington, Massachusetts office, with occasional local site visits.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support project managers and engineers in the preparation of project documentation, coordination of design deliverables, and tracking of project progress.
  • Assist in organizing project data, maintaining schedules, and preparing presentations or reports for internal and client meetings.
  • Contribute to the design and development of technical deliverables.
  • Participate in research, data analysis, and technical studies to support design or project planning activities.
  • Assist with proposal development and other business development initiatives as needed.
  • Occasionally support site visits or construction coordination activities to observe how designs translate into real-world implementation.
  • Work in a manner that promotes the health, safety, and well-being of Stantec employees, clients, and the public.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong interest in transportation and infrastructure development.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in both written and verbal contexts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to adapt to new tools, processes, and project requirements as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to occasionally visit project sites and observe construction activities.

Education and Experience

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Coursework or exposure to transportation, infrastructure design, or construction management topics preferred.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in an engineering or construction environment is an asset but not required.
