Purpose

NFCA is an automated sand foundry serving a highly diversified market base. We are seeking a position as a Melt Technician at NFCA. The Melt Technician is responsible for ensuring quality metal makes it to the machines safely and on time to support production. The Melt Technician will ensure appropriate procedures are performed while using the melt furnaces, degassing, preheating crucibles, holding furnaces and maintenance as required. This requires working closely with production and maintenance to ensure the metal is there and usable when needed.

Essential Functions:

· Perform all pre / final burns for metal

· Perform all gas samples

  • Ensure pot temperatures are within range

· Maintaining and being responsible for the return metal

  • Maintaining and being responsible for the ingot metal
  • Keep all documentation on pots that are ready + Sign offs
  • Standardizing samples daily (356 / A356 / 319 / etc.)
  • Incoming metal checks
  • Cleaning/scraping the pots
  • Cleaning/scraping the thermocouples
  • Cleaning the filters
  • Air filter weekly PM
  • Coordinate with maintenance on pot changes
  • Clean flux machine
  • Input service request when issues come up
  • Utilize Red/Green checklists

· Communicates (verbally) with peers, facilitators, and supervision to inform them of tooling or equipment concerns, casting inconsistencies, quality concerns, maintenance requests, supply problems, etc.

· Keeps work area clean by performing general housekeeping duties.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to follow instructions and learn the production process.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Foundry and/or molding experience is a plus
  • Lift truck operation experience is a plus
  • On-the-job training provided.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Must wear required hearing and eye protection.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time. Occasionally up to 75 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour
