Postdoctoral Research Associate – Cell and Developmental Biology

The Hehnly Lab at Syracuse University is seeking a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms that drive tissue morphogenesis. Our research focuses on centrosome function, cytoskeletal dynamics, and Rab GTPase–mediated membrane trafficking during vertebrate development, using mammalian cell culture and zebrafish embryo as model systems.

The successful candidate will work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and have access to state-of-the-art imaging facilities. This position provides opportunities to lead independent projects, contribute to ongoing research, mentor students, and develop a strong publication record.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments to investigate centrosome function, cytoskeletal remodeling, and membrane trafficking in developing tissues.
  • Perform live-cell and fixed-cell imaging, molecular genetic manipulation, and quantitative analyses.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to manuscript preparation and grant proposals.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the laboratory.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Strong background in cell and developmental biology, microscopy, or molecular genetics.
  • Experience with zebrafish or other vertebrate models is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
