Merchandising Coordinator – Beauty & Cosmetics (Hybrid, San Francisco)

Employment Type: Freelance | Duration: 1 year | Schedule: Hybrid, 2 days/week onsite (Tues/Wed)

Pay rate: $22/ hour

A well-known beauty and cosmetics company is seeking a detail-oriented Merchandising Coordinator to support one of its core product portfolios. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with product data, timelines, and cross-functional teams, and who has a strong interest in the beauty industry.

Onsite Requirement:
Hybrid – onsite 2x per week (Tuesday and Wednesday). No fully remote option.

About The Function
The merchandising function focuses on building a compelling beauty assortment, partnering with brands, and supporting initiatives across both physical and digital channels. The work includes managing product lifecycles, monitoring performance, and ensuring products are represented accurately wherever customers discover and shop them.

Role Overview

The Merchandising Coordinator will support a merchant team on day-to-day needs for a defined brand or category portfolio. This role is heavily focused on organization, data accuracy, tracking deliverables, and timely communication with both internal partners and external brand contacts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track timelines and deliverables for new product launches, ensuring required information and assets are received and documented accurately.
  • Enter and maintain product data (e.g., attributes, pricing, copy, imagery) in relevant systems, helping to ensure accuracy across channels.
  • Update product and asset information to support sales, marketing, and ecommerce objectives.
  • Assist with review processes for product information and assets to help ensure consistent and accurate product representation.
  • Run recurring reports (weekly/monthly) on product and/or category performance and complete follow-up tasks as directed by the merchant team.
  • Request and track product samples from brand partners for internal use (meetings, reviews, and cross-functional projects).
  • Provide clear, timely communication to internal stakeholders and brand partners regarding status, next steps, and any issues or risks.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in merchandising, retail, CPG, or beauty/cosmetics preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency with Excel and comfort working with spreadsheets and larger data sets.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, documentation, and reporting.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working with both internal partners and external brand contacts.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and proactively problem-solve.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships across teams.
