Who We Are
Ruby's Place dba Restorative Pathways (RP) is an innovative nonprofit committed to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy and connection. Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, substance recovery, and wrap-around services. All our services are trauma-sensitive and client-centered and are provided at no cost to our clients. All programs are low barrier.
RP is led by survivors with a focus on reflection, innovation, and connection. We believe in fostering relationships, both in our direct service work and throughout our internal work culture. You are flexible, creative, and take initiative in handling emergencies.
What qualifications are required for this position?
You are also:
- A person with a Bachelor's degree in social services or a related field.
- Fluent in Spanish.
- Someone with at least 2 years experience in casework management, crisis intervention, peer counseling.
- Experienced with unhoused populations (highly preferred).
Someone with previous work in human trafficking, domestic violence, dealing with disenfranchised populations and/or providing direct services to survivors (preferred).
- Experienced in career advising and/or job development and employment counseling.
- Experienced working with youth and TAY population.
- Understanding of the dynamics of trauma-informed care, as well as an understanding of, and sensitivity to, serving diverse populations and languages as it relates to family dynamics and other aspects of cultural practice.
- Knowledge of community resources, community-based organizations, social services, housing agencies, and employment agencies.
- A person with the state mandated 40-hour Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking counselor certification. (Can be completed after hiring.)
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by RP insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles. If a staff member cannot be approved by RP insurance as a driver, employment might not be able to continue. Instances where staff cannot be approved to drive will be reviewed on a case by case basis to determine if employment can continue in their role without driving agency vehicles. Items considered include but are not limited to: the shift the staff member holds and the frequency/necessity of driving during that shift, the amount of time before the staff member may be approved to drive by the insurance carrier, the availability of other staff on site to drive agency vehicles as program needs require, etc.
- Able to complete all required background checks. Additional requirements may be deemed necessary, including fingerprinting (Live Scan), completion of all Community Care Licensing (CCL) documents, a suitability process through ORR and ability to meet CCL licensing requirements.
What You Will Do
The Case Manager, reporting to the Program Coordinator, plays a vital role in supporting survivors as they work towards safety, stability, and independence. This position provides individual case management, advocacy, and linkage to community resources while maintaining a trauma-sensitive, strengths based approach. The case manager collaborates closely with the program coordinator and with internal teams and external partners to ensure coordinated care and holistic support for each participant with the agency; this contributes to the greater mission of empowering survivors, promoting healing, and advancing equitable housing, employment and wellness opportunities.
Responsibilities include
- Actively participate in meetings and trainings.
- Provide case management, including the development of case plans for residents.
- Advocate for clients, provide resources, and make referrals to community service providers as needed.
- Transport residents to legal, social services and other case management related appointments or coordinate said transportation for them.
- Provide confidential, holistic, resident-centered, trauma-informed services.
- Facilitate peer groups as well as other activities for the clients residing in the program.
- Provide a thorough orientation to new residents.
- Perform telephone screening and intake for potential residents when needed.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date referral information in referral binders and boards.
- Assist community events and/or meetings to represent the agency and provide all information pertaining to the program.
- Assist with general program operations.
- Hold active communication with other residential programs within RP.
- Maintain files with up to date case notes, documentation, etc.
- Enter accurate case information and data to the database Apricot.
- Engage in communication with other RP programs, for example, the clinical department.
- Must provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when conflicts arise.
- Cover shift when there is staff shortage.
- Complete functional timesheets by assigned due dates in compliance with time allocations.
- Actively participate in reflective supervision sessions.
- Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures related to job duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
This position is 100% in person. You are expected to be available on-site. You must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical activities including cleaning, and lifting up to 25 pounds. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and must be able to multitask and handle stress. Must be able to interact with clients in challenging situations. Local travel in the greater Bay Area may be required.

The pay scale for the Case Manager (Solara House) is $30 per hour (non-exempt). The benefits that come with working at RP at full-time hours include medical, dental, and vision plans, a life insurance policy, significant vacation, sick, restorative care hours, and immediate vesting in our 403(b) with a generous match. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, salaried position. with some days required to cover shifts. Applicants must be located in the greater Bay Area.
