We are proud to announce the establishment of a state-of-the-art Li-ion battery factory, set amidst the beautiful Kansas City Metro. This groundbreaking green-field factory will serve as a pioneering hub for innovation in sustainable energy solutions. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new, state-of-the-art factory located in the thriving city of DeSoto, Kansas.
ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:
The Machinist – Level 5's daily work includes developing new parts or making repairs to old parts for existing machinery using welding and flame cutting equipment such as arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches. Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. The individual may identify and repair minor machine malfunctions. Works on assignments that are routine in nature.
Essential Duties:
(Includes all Level 4 duties, plus the following)
Engineering Support & Troubleshooting
- Collaborate closely with engineers to perform in-depth root cause and failure analysis.
- Troubleshoot and improve product designs to ensure manufacturability and performance.
- Execute repairs, rework, and modifications on mechanical assemblies to meet advanced operational specifications.
Advanced Machining Skills
- Expert in CNC machine operation with deep understanding of machinery and components.
- Expert-level programming of CNC machines, including G-code and various CNC programming languages.
- Operate manual machining equipment as required.
Process Optimization & Waste Reduction
- Optimize material usage and develop a comprehensive waste management strategy.
- Implement initiatives and best practices to minimize resource waste and improve operational efficiency.
Workplace Safety & Environment
- Promote and maintain a secure shop floor and workplace environment.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and participate in safety audits.
Leadership & Training
- Capable of executing comprehensive processing operations and driving continuous improvements.
- Provide expert guidance to train and develop Machinist Level 3 and Level 4 team members.
- Support human resource development initiatives within the functional area.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees,' wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or PreferredEducation- Required: High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or minimum two years of production/manufacturing experience
- Preferred: 1 to 2 years of vocational training or associate degree
- At least eight years of experience working in the maintenance field.
- Minimum of eight years prior machine shop experience or apprenticeship
- Eight years of experience in inventory management, including shop department forecasting and supplying tooling needs and materials.
- At least five years of computer programming experience, advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CAM programming, and G-code programming.
- Strong mathematical skills in Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry
- Maintaining and repairing manufacturing production equipment
- Five years' experience fabricating simple fixtures as well as performing metal cutting/trimming work using tools including welding.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Ability to work independently and must have an aptitude for spatial reasoning.
- Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
