Job Purpose: LPN provides direct patient care as part of an interdisciplinary care team and serves as the first line of communication with patients in our clinical phone and messaging triage during office hours. The ideal candidate thrives in a busy practice, loves pediatrics and building relationships with patients, is an excellent problem-solver and communicator, and can multi-task easily. To provide direct patient care within an interdisciplinary team and serve as the primary communication link for patients through clinical phone and messaging triage during office hours, requiring an LPN with strong problem-solving, communication, and multitasking skills who thrive in a busy pediatric practice.
Essential Functions: (Examples of Duties)
- Act as the first line of call in clinical communications for patients, within triage guidelines/protocols
- Administer injections and medications as needed
- Provide supporting paperwork and education for patients
- Support clinic visits as appropriate and per training when needed
- Support the everyday flow of clinic acting as back up support for MA
- Maintaining logs
- Cleaning of rooms as needed and sterilization of instruments
- Additional workflow items as the need arises
Education: Completion of an accredited licensed practical nurse program.
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in an outpatient preferred
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with EMRs
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public.
Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate clearly.
Licenses/Certifications: Active Nursing License in the state of TN. CPR certification.
Working Conditions: Exposure to communicable, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. May be required to help lift/transfer patient. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
