Position Overview:

Washes dishes, pots, small wares and kitchen equipment used by co-workers.  Performs cleaning and maintenance tasks as directed by Operations Manager. Maintains order and organization of dept.; restocks cleaning supplies, and paper goods. Stocks foodstuff and dry goods deliveries. Prepares certain foods for use by co-workers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Washes dishes as received from co-workers, keeping area neat, clean and safe, particularly preventing accidents from a wet floor by mopping up in a timely way and placing wet floor signs down
  2. Cleans assigned areas to maintain safe and sanitary conditions
    • Cleans shelves, bins, tables, coolers and floor on a regularly scheduled basis following sanitary procedures
    • Follows closing procedures to ensure complete sanitation of area
  3. Follows prep list as set by Department Supervisor or Manager
  4. Cleans kitchen equipment as needed and requested by staff
  5. Before handling food, washes hands thoroughly at the hand sink and dries hands on a single use towel
  6. Check Co-op email at least once per week
  7. Set standard for expected behavior in adhering to all food safety procedures

Required Skills/Experience and Attributes:

  1. Ability to represent the Co-op in a positive manner
  2. Ability to multi-task
  3. Set an excellent example for new employees
  4. Excellent follow through

Attendance Requirements: 

Flexible hours, including weekend and evening shifts.  Availability to be scheduled to work any day of the week, according to department needs.
