Principal Software Engineer - Bellevue, Washington - Hybrid 3 days in office

Our client is looking for an experienced Principal level backend software engineer. In this role
,
you will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure and services to support end-to-end systems and workflows — primarily in AWS
  • Work with large-scale datasets, performing sophisticated data analysis and real-time alerting.
  • Build APIs and internal tooling to enable AI-enhanced developer experiences.
  • Collaborate on defining architecture, service components, and development lifecycle processes.
  • Participate in tradeoff discussions while maintaining adherence to core principles and best practices.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, highly available, and secure.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of backend software development experience.
  • Strong understanding of the full software lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident management.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages; familiarity with Go, Python, and TypeScript preferred.
  • Experience with AI-enhanced workflows and large-scale SaaS platforms.
  • 4 to 5 years of hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP acceptable).
  • Expertise in CI/CD, containerization, Terraform, or similar deployment tooling.
  • Deep knowledge of performance, scalability, HA/DR, logging, and alerting for enterprise systems.
  • Strong grasp of security, privacy, and data governance best practices.
  • Experience with secure development practices, including secure coding and artifact management.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, dynamic environments with ambiguity and change.
