POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational and Employee Health Nurse Practitioner plays a critical role in supporting employee health by delivering comprehensive employee health services for the hospital, including pre-employment medical clearance screenings, administering required immunizations, managing work related injuries and exposures, evaluating return to work clearance, and other periodic OEH evaluations. The OEH NP also participates in and can lead OEH programs and projects, such as annual flu vaccination and fit testing campaigns. The Nurse Practitioner independently manages clinical decision-making, coordinates referrals and follow-ups, and partners with departments across the organization. This position is essential to maintaining a healthy workforce, and functions under limited supervision within the broader strategic goals of the occupational and employee health service

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of an accredited educational program for nurse practitioners and at least two years of current clinical experience in adult practice required

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in Occupational and Employee Health.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with authorization by the Board of Registration in Nursing to practice in an expanded role.
  • Registered with the ANCC or other accrediting organization for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Registered with the State of Massachusetts and DEA for prescription writing privileges.
  • Current BLS Certification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):

  • Expert knowledge of clinical decision-making frameworks and ability to apply them independently in an occupational health setting, without routine on-site supervision.
  • Skill in analyzing clinical information and applying structured problem-solving methods
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in both verbal and written English
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and the ability to develop and deliver tailored patient and employee education.
  • Skill in organizing and managing clinical workflows
  • Ability to collaborate across clinical and non-clinical departments
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHRs) and occupational health software platforms to input, retrieve, and analyze health data

Must-Haves
