Interdisciplinary Sexual Health and HIV Research Postdoctoral Fellow

Description: The University of Rochester, School of Nursing is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral/Fellow/Associate to join the Interdisciplinary Sexual Health and HIV Research (INSHHR; ) Group. This two-year position will involve working with a designated primary mentor and focusing on the intersection of social determinants of health and HIV/sexual health. Throughout the duration of the post-doc, 50% effort will be devoted to collaborating on the mentor's research and 50% effort will focus on cultivating the post-doc's independent program of research. The deadline for the application and materials is Dec. 31, 2023.
Post-doc training focus areas:
· Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative data to identify patterns, trends, and insights related to structural racism, HIV prevention, and mental health.
· Analysis of patterns and trends in large datasets.
· Knowledge, understanding and use of data science techniques and their application in health-related research.
· Dissemination of research via publication in high-impact journals and presentation of research findings at national and international scientific conferences
· Grantsmanship
The referenced pay range represents the full base range of pay for this job. Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
· A Ph.D. in Nursing/Nursing Science but other relevant fields (e.g., public health, social work sociology, psychology) will be considered.
· Research experience in the field of HIV prevention.
· A strong research interest in the intersection of HIV prevention and care, sexual health, mental health, and/or substance use.
· Demonstrated experience with conducting literature reviews, and synthesizing research findings, via dissertation, grantsmanship and/or publications.
Required skills:
· Proficiency in quantitative research methodologies including experience with collecting, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative data
· Familiarity with ethical considerations and cultural sensitivity in research related to structural racism, HIV prevention, and mental health.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present research findings to diverse audiences and prepare manuscripts for publication.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary research team.
Preferred skills, but not required:
· Programming skills in R, Python, or similar programs
· Experience working with large datasets.
· Experience with data science methodologies
