JOB SUMMARY

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction vehicles and equipment. This position may supervise apprentice workers preforming vehicle and equipment repairs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Inspect heavy vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Repair heavy construction vehicles and equipment such as bulldozers, cranes, dump trucks, front-end loaders, motor graders, tractor-trailers, vac trailers, water trucks, areial lifts, telehandlers, and other heavy equipment based on inspection and direction from supervisors.
  • Adjust, repair, and replace the following: engines, transmissions, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and steering.
  • Disassemble and reassemble vehicle and equipment parts using hoists, hand tools, pneumatic tools, and electric tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including lube, oil, and filter changes in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment to diagnose issues and test drive after repairs are complete to ensure issue(s) have been resolved.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
  • Prepare and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needs require.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment
  • Troubleshooting and repair knowledge of electrical and Aftertreatment Systems.
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical diagnostic programs.
  • Must provide own tools.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Driver License required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Valid CDL A driver's license preferred
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment
  • 10 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment requirements outlined below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. A post-offer, pre-hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to ensure an employee's ability to safely meet job standards.
