Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM Technician)

The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM technician) role at KhS focuses on delivering on-site, in-transit repair solutions for vehicles within the finished vehicle supply chain. This includes servicing vehicles at manufacturing plants, transit sites, auctions, dealerships, and distribution centers. As a Tech-OEM, you will perform specialized, technology-driven repairs to minimize downtime and ensure vehicles meet OEM standards prior to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-transit repairs on new vehicles, including:

• Key programming and replacement

• Battery replacements
• Wheel and tire replacements
• Travel to client sites using a company vehicle and mobile toolkit to provide on-site repairs
• Stay current with evolving vehicle technologies through ongoing training (e.g., advanced key systems, EV components)
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE
• Clock in/out using Workday system during assigned shifts
• Work within assigned business hours; obtain approval for overtime
• Respond to internal communications within the same business day
• Use Smartsheet and other systems to document and complete claims per customer requirements
• Refer to process documents or escalate unclear repairs to management

• Maintain and update equipment including:

• Battery testing tools

• Tire changing tools and jacks
• Programming software and firmware
• Company vehicle (including scheduled maintenance)
• Report any vehicle or equipment issues immediately to management
• Notify management of any accidents or damage involving company vehicles
• Maintain open communication with management regarding daily tasks and scheduling
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 2+ years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician

• Expertise in key programming, wheel repair, battery systems, or light mechanical work preferred

• OEM certification is a plus
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and estimating software (e.g., CCC, Audatex, Mitchell)
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Willingness to travel regionally (up to 50%)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently in variable weather conditions
• Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills
• Effective communication and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements

• Work in automotive repair shops, refurbishing facilities, or outdoor environments
• Must be clean-shaven and fit-tested to wear a respirator
• Physical stamina to reach overhead, kneel, bend, squat, and lift up to 45 lbs
• Ability to twist and maneuver into awkward positions
• Exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals; must wear protective gear (gloves, goggles, masks)

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

The starting compensation is expected to be:

$ $25.00/Hour
