to join our 5-Star Hotel client's executive team in
Los Angeles County
. In this high-impact, full-time permanent role, you'll report directly to the General Manager and play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction and day-to-day performance of a premier hospitality property.

Job Summary:

The Director of Operations is a dynamic leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operational efficiency and effectiveness of the hotel. This position ensures smooth operations across all departments, focusing on optimizing processes, improving efficiency, and enhancing the overall guest experience. The Director of Operations coordinates between different departments to ensure effective collaboration, implements strategies and plans set by the General Manager and senior management, and may oversee and manage department heads and other key staff.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

Reporting to the General Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Operational Leadership:

  • Assume the responsibilities of the General Manager in his absence, ensuring seamless continuity of hotel operations.
  • Direct operational needs to ensure compliance with the hotel's Annual Budget and 5-Year Strategic Plan.
  • Function as a key member of the Hotel Executive Committee and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Ensure the smooth operation and coordination of the hotel through their respective Department Heads (Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Environmental Systems, and Security).
  • Follow department policies, procedures, and service standards.

Financial Management & Planning:

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Operations Plan and achieve the profit objectives therein.
  • Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Operating Departments, including Rooms, Food & Beverage, Engineering, Security, and Staff Accommodations, are accurate and are being achieved.
  • Play a lead role in yield management for Rooms and Food & Beverage.
  • Assist in capital projects, including the development of capital plans and the execution of projects.
  • Complete the Month-end and Forecast Commentary for the President of Hospitality.
  • With the General Manager, review all contracts (e.g., cleaning, maintenance & repair, telephones, etc.).

Guest Experience & Feedback:

  • Handle all guest concerns and feedback to ensure effective follow-up and resolution.

Human Resources & Staff Oversight:

  • Assist in staff planning and the maintenance of productivity levels.
  • Provide support and assistance as required to the Human Resources, Controller, and General Manager departments.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Update and ensure timely awareness of the hotel's Business Continuity, Emergency, and Crisis Management Plans.
  • Provide active leadership in the culture of Health and Safety and accident prevention.
  • Follow all safety policies.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in hotel operations management, with a focus on efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience coordinating multiple departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial objectives, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience with yield management principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various hotel departments and senior leadership.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and compliance standards.
