Job Summary
The Electrical (ECAD) Engineering Technologist supports a regional research and development organization by creating and managing electrical design documentation for complex engineering projects. This role is responsible for developing schematics, printed wiring boards, and circuit card assemblies; maintaining configuration control through PLM systems; and collaborating closely with engineering teams to ensure design accuracy and compliance. The position is integral to delivering high-quality designs that support mission-critical government and defense programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Create schematics, PWBs/PCBs, CCAs, BOMs, and supporting documentation using established ECAD methods.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical staff to support electrical design activities and resolve design issues.
- Manage and archive engineering data through PLM systems, ensuring accurate configuration control.
- Support work intake, provide estimates, and track execution of assigned tasks.
- Participate in and occasionally lead technical reviews and design discussions.
- Ensure compliance with required security, safety, and operational training.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Senior Professional Level: 6+ years of relevant ECAD or electrical design experience, or equivalent combination.
- Advanced Professional Level: 3+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination.
- Experience developing schematics, PCBs, CCAs, part libraries, and BOMs using ECAD tools.
- Prior experience leading or supervising technical work is strongly preferred.
Special Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher.
- Compliance with ongoing training requirements.
- U.S. citizenship may be required due to government contract work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency with ECAD tools (Altium preferred).
- Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred).
- Strong understanding of PCB construction, fabrication, and assembly processes.
- Working knowledge of analog, digital, power electronics, RF, and EMI concepts.
- Skilled in generating detailed, compliant engineering documentation.
- Strong communication, technical collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio).
Additional Desired Characteristics
- IPC CID or CID+ knowledge or certification.
- Experience supporting government, defense, or highly regulated projects.
- Ability to coordinate work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Work Environment
- Position is primarily on-site within a regional engineering and research facility.
- Hybrid flexibility may be available depending on project requirements.
- Work may involve secure environments and adherence to strict security protocols.
