The Town of Glenville Police Department is seeking a dedicated and professional Lateral Transfer Police Officer to join our team. This vital role is responsible for enforcing laws, maintaining public safety, preventing crime, and serving the community with integrity and respect. As a Police Officer, you will play an active role in protecting the lives and property of our residents while promoting positive community relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents, providing first aid and CPR as needed.
- Conduct thorough criminal investigations, including evidence collection and witness interviews.
- Prepare clear, detailed reports on incidents, investigations, arrests, and enforcement actions.
- Utilize surveillance and other monitoring techniques to gather intelligence.
- Manage and de-escalate conflicts to ensure peaceful resolution.
- Enforce traffic laws and conduct vehicle stops professionally and safely.
- Collaborate with community members to implement safety initiatives and crime prevention programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current New York State Police Officer certification.
- Must have been appointed to a Police Officer or Deputy Sheriff position from a competitive civil service exam list and have satisfactorily completed probation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to public service.
- 30 College Credits
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in criminal investigations and case preparation.
- Training or certification in first aid and CPR.
- Proficiency in writing detailed reports and maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge of traffic and driving regulations.
- Familiarity with conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
