Job Summary

Solve complex technical issues on projectsAsses the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, and work with a Project Manager to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffingWrite scope of work for mechanical design based on preliminary review and meetings with the clientPrepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systemsAnalyze operation of existing systemsBased on knowledge of applicable building codes, work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is requiredAssign and review work of project design teamCheck progress of work and alert Project Manager to change of scope or additional servicesReview contractor application for paymentsCoordinate all aspects of project document completion within company and externally with clients and other design professionalsPrepare or review construction budgets based on experience and scope of projectSupervise staff on multiple projects, provide assertive management, technical leadership and support to team members, verify that all work is completed as planned and scheduled in compliance with client, and company quality assurance practicesMentor younger staff

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from accredited in mechanical engineering 10 years of design experience Proficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD, Revit, design, and calculation softwarePE preferred Strong technical knowledge Ability to interface with clients Ability to work on several concurrent projectsExpert knowledge of design and building codesExcellent communication skills Thorough understanding of construction process
