Position Summary:

The Field Operations Technician is an essential member of the Covenant Operations team responsible for the installation, configuration, and testing of professional audio, video, lighting, and control systems. This position plays a key role in supporting Project Leads, Engineers, and Managers to ensure projects are executed to Covenant's standards of quality, performance, and client satisfaction.

Technicians work hands-on in the field to bring designs to life—performing installations, pulling cable, rigging support, terminations, rack builds, and troubleshooting while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. System Installation and Integration

  2. Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling for audio, video, control, and network systems.

  3. Install AVL components including loudspeakers, flat panel displays, projection screens, LED video walls, lighting fixtures, and control interfaces.
  4. Assist in rack fabrication, equipment layout, and system wiring in accordance with AVIXA standards and company best practices.
  5. Deploy, connect, and commission system components under the guidance of Project Leads and Engineers.
  6. Support installation of lighting systems including fixtures, dimming racks, consoles, and related control devices.
  7. Install and configure networking and control equipment including routers, switches, and DSPs.

  8. Technical Execution and Quality Assurance

  9. Read and interpret project documentation including schematics, scopes of work, and construction drawings.

  10. Perform on-site testing, verification, and troubleshooting to ensure systems operate to specification.
  11. Collaborate with programmers and consultants during system commissioning and customer turnover.
  12. Update redline as-built drawings to reflect completed field work or modifications.
  13. Maintain proper organization of tools, materials, and jobsite cleanliness.

  14. Collaboration and Communication

  15. Work closely with Project Leads, Account Managers, and Field Operations leadership to meet project goals.

  16. Provide daily progress reports and document work performed.
  17. Communicate effectively with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, and other trades to ensure clear coordination.
  18. Demonstrate professionalism and respect in all client and team interactions, acting as a representative of Covenant's culture and values.

  19. Customer Experience and Training

  20. Support client and end-user training on basic system functionality when required.

  21. Ensure the client experience reflects Covenant's commitment to excellence and service.
  22. Maintain a professional appearance and courteous demeanor on all project sites.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of hands-on experience in AVL, low-voltage, or related technical field (internship or trade school experience acceptable).
  • Basic understanding of audio, video, lighting, and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and construction plans.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional conduct in client-facing environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project demands.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in elevated or confined spaces safely.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AVIXA CTS certification (or willingness to pursue within 6–12 months).
  • Experience with professional AVL systems integration or live production environments.
  • Familiarity with AVL commissioning, networking, and system programming.
  • Manufacturer and/ Protocol Certifications (e.g. Dante, Q-SYS)
