Chewy's Pet Health team is on a mission to build innovative solutions for our customers and our partner vets, such as our recent launch of Chewy's first Telehealth service and Insurance. Your Role:
Chewy is hiring a Software Engineer II for our Boston, MA office as part of our Practice Hub team. You will help design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and collaborate with product managers and front-end engineers to help Vet Clinics purchasing from the B2B Platform and enable them be in-stock for their customer's needs. Responsibilities:
- Apply algorithms, data structures, and design patterns to produce efficient and performant code
- Develop, extend, and debug code within the scope of their team's existing tools and services
- Complete simple design and debug tasks
- Troubleshoot root causes of and solutions for bugs and production issues
- Will contribute to team's standard processes for logging, testing, instrumentation, metrics, monitors, alerts, practices, and processes
- Make meaningful contributions to the team's existing service architecture, data architecture, dev-ops, and infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, and public cloud services as part of a software development team
- Participate in on-call rotations and operational perfection
Minimum Qualifications:
- Serve as a senior technical contributor on the Practice Hub engineering team, focused on tech development and implementation.
- Experience in current web application core technologies: Java, Python, Spring, Spring Boot, Junit
- Experience in object oriented design
- Experience designing and integrating with RESTful APIs
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, architect, and develop usable components and features across distributed services
- Experience improving the performance of microservices
- Experience with load balancing
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting applications using tools like cloudsearch, opensearch, Kibana, Grafana or AWS Cloudwatch
- Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or similar technical field of study preferred), or equivalent work experience
- Mentor and guide junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and pair programming sessions.
- Participate in sprint planning, technical design sessions, and retrospectives to improve development processes and team velocity.
- Contribute to team culture by fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Preferred:
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Experience providing production support as part of an on-call rotation
- With knowledge of ReactJS and Typescript
- Experience developing CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins or similar tool
The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
