We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team. Duties

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries by preparing equipment, restraining animals safely, and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
  • Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, horses, and small mammals with confidence in animal restraint and handling techniques.
  • Administer medications accurately following veterinary instructions, including injections, oral medications, and topical treatments.
  • Support animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, bathing, grooming, cleaning kennels, and maintaining overall cleanliness of the clinic.
  • Perform laboratory procedures including sample collection, processing specimens, and recording results to aid in diagnosis.
  • Manage front desk responsibilities such as scheduling appointments, greeting clients warmly, processing payments, and maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Assist with animal intake and discharge procedures while ensuring all pet care protocols are followed diligently.
  • Support emergency critical care situations by monitoring vital signs and assisting with life-saving procedures as directed by veterinary staff.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all treatments administered and procedures performed to ensure compliance with veterinary standards.
  • Educate pet owners on basic pet care practices including feeding routines, medication administration, and post-treatment care instructions.

Requirements

  • Proven kennel experience or hands-on animal care background is essential; familiarity with pet care routines is highly valued.
  • Prior experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting is preferred; veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus.
  • Strong animal handling skills across various species with an understanding of animal physiology and anatomy.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology to effectively communicate with team members and educate clients.
  • Experience with dog handling techniques and animal restraint methods to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
  • Ability to perform medication administration accurately and follow aseptic techniques during procedures.
  • Laboratory experience including sample collection, processing specimens, or running diagnostic tests is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with front desk operations such as appointment scheduling, client communication, and record keeping enhances your candidacy.
  • Equine experience is desirable but not mandatory; willingness to learn about large animal care is appreciated.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with a positive attitude to foster a welcoming environment for clients and their pets.
