Job Description

A Day in the Life of a GIS Specialist

Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:

  • Collect and edit geospatial data from field surveys, as-builts, and other sources

  • Create basic maps and visualizations using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online

  • Assist in maintaining GIS databases and metadata

  • Support GIS Analysts and Professionals with data preparation and QA/QC tasks

  • Perform routine GIS tasks and follow established workflows and standards

  • Stay current with GIS tools and techniques relevant to the role

  • Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:

Skills

  • Basic proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online

  • Familiarity with GPS data collection and mobile GIS apps like Field Maps

  • Understanding of spatial data formats and coordinate systems

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and data entry tools

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively

  • Eagerness to learn and take direction

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, IT, or related field, or Associate's degree +2 years of relevant experience

  • 0–5 years of experience in GIS or related field

  • Experience with Survey123 or GPS data collection tools preferred

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred

Salary Range

$40,000 – $70,000, based on experience
