Three Little Bears Retreat is a luxury eco-resort bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Bryson City, which is about 1 hour from Asheville. Inspired by the romance of vintage safari camps and the soul of the Southern Appalachians, our mission is to deliver fellowship, relaxation, adventure, and stewardship immersed in nature and local culture. Guests stay in our luxury lodges and chalets while enjoying curated adventures, spa treatments, and locally inspired cuisine — all guided by a team of exceptional hosts who bring our mountain story to life.

Position Overview:

We're seeking a dynamic and personable Safari Guide & Guest Host to join our team at Three Little Bears Retreat for the Spring of 2026. This full-time, hands-on position blends outdoor adventure leadership with the hospitality and service excellence of a luxury lodge host. You'll curate unforgettable guest experiences — from sunrise hikes and fly-fishing excursions to evening campfire gatherings and intimate dinners overlooking the mountains. You will become the personal host, guide, concierge and friend of the guests who are in your care during their stay.

As a host, you'll also ensure our lodges are guest-ready, well-stocked, and maintained to the highest standards. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in both the wild and the refined — an adventurer at heart with a servant's spirit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adventure Leadership:
  • Lead, accompany, or transport guests on or to guided excursions including hiking, scenic drives, fly-fishing, kayaking, or cultural tours.
  • Assist guests both prior and during their stay in planning daily itineraries, arranging excursions, and providing insider knowledge of the Smoky Mountains.
  • Guest Hosting & Concierge Service:
  • Serve as the main point of contact for guests prior and during their stay, ensuring a warm welcome and personalized attention.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping to ensure lodges are spotless and meet luxury presentation standards.
  • Restock kitchens, pantries, and guest amenities as needed before arrivals.
  • Event & Experience Support:
  • Assist with weddings, private dinners, or onsite entertainment events.
  • Provide bar service, assist chefs or catering staff, and ensure seamless guest experiences.
  • Participate in or help lead storytelling sessions, bonfires, or nature walks to engage guests.
  • Resort Stewardship:
  • Assist in light maintenance, groundskeeping, and resort improvement projects as needed.
  • Ensure vehicles, adventure gear, and facilities remain clean, safe, and organized.
  • Participate in conservation stewardship and community initiatives as engaged by the Retreat

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in outdoor guiding, adventure tourism, luxury hospitality, or resort hosting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for guest service.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and terrain.
  • Basic knowledge of the Great Smoky Mountains region, flora, fauna, and local culture preferred.
  • Ability to perform light maintenance, lift up to 50 lbs, and handle physical tasks.
  • Bartending or event support experience a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
