Position Summary:
The Senior Brand Manager will serve as a key partner to the Brand Director in shaping the future of the business through disciplined brand management, portfolio strategy, and innovation leadership. This role requires a strong foundation in CPG fundamentals with a heightened focus on new product development and portfolio strategy. The ideal candidate will combine strategic acumen with hands-on execution, translating insights into actionable growth strategies, leading cross-functional teams through innovation development, and managing in-market performance to drive sustainable brand and business growth.
Responsibilities:
Brand Strategy: Support the Brand Director in developing and refining brand positioning, long-range plans, and annual growth strategies grounded in market dynamics and consumer behavior.
Portfolio Strategy: Manage portfolio strategy, including SKU optimization, whitespace assessment, and strategic prioritization of core and innovation initiatives. Identify and size growth opportunities across channels, segments, and usage occasions to strengthen brand equity and drive incremental growth. Collaborate closely with Sales and Category Management to optimize distribution, shelf presence, and promotional effectiveness.
New Product Development: Lead the end-to-end innovation process from ideation and consumer validation through commercialization and post-launch evaluation. Own and maintain the innovation funnel, ensuring alignment with consumer needs, brand purpose, and business objectives. Partner with R&D, Operations, and Sales to deliver product innovation that meets quality, margin, and timing goals.
Insights & Analytics: Leverage syndicated data, market trends, and consumer research to uncover insights, measure performance, and inform strategic decision-making. Translate data into actionable recommendations that influence portfolio and innovation strategies.
Brand Building: Champion consistent brand storytelling across touchpoints, ensuring alignment with brand standards and consumer expectations. Drive initiatives that build brand trial, love, and loyalty, turning consumers into passionate advocates.
Supervisory:
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business/marketing. Masters/ MBA with concentration in Marketing degree preferred.
8+ years of experience in brand management and product innovation within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry, with at least 3 years of people management.
Proven experience in new product development, innovation pipeline management, and portfolio strategy.
Strong P&L management and business acumen, with demonstrated success in driving brand growth and profitability.
Deep understanding of consumer insights, segmentation, and brand positioning, translating data into actionable marketing and innovation strategies.
Skilled in cross-functional leadership, collaborating effectively with R&D, Operations, Sales, Finance, and agency partners to deliver business results.
Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse product portfolio, balance core business health with innovation and renovation initiatives.
Proficient in leveraging syndicated data sources (IRI, Nielsen, Circana, etc.) and other analytics to inform decision-making.
Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
