Position Summary
The Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships & Catholic Initiatives is senior-level leadership role responsible for stewarding and scaling CarePortal's national Catholic initiatives while providing executive oversight of the organization's Strategic Partnerships function.
This role exists to unlock the extraordinary potential of the Catholic Church as a frontline responder in the Care-Sharing movement, while also ensuring CarePortal's most critical strategic partnerships are prioritized, aligned, and positioned for long-term impact. Catholic initiatives represent a protected priority of this role, aligned with dedicated funding and outcomes established through CarePortal's Catholic Strategy investment.
Reporting to executive leadership, the Senior Director provides vision, strategy, and stewardship across enterprise-level partnerships. This role serves as the architect and senior relationship owner for Catholic initiatives and select strategic partners, while enabling execution through Strategic Partnerships staff, Field teams, and Advancement as appropriate.
The Senior Director directly manages Strategic Partnerships team members with distinct partnership portfolios and provides clarity, prioritization, and accountability across the partnership ecosystem. Over time, this function may expand to include additional strategists as opportunity and timing allow.
This is not a symbolic or advisory role. This is a catalytic leadership role designed to move CarePortal from early Catholic momentum to durable, national scale and further strengthen our strategic partnerships through organizational alignment.

Serve as the organizational leader and subject matter expert for CarePortal's Catholic initiatives, strategy, and national engagement.
Design and execute a multiyear Catholic engagement and partnership strategy aligned with CarePortal's mission, growth goals, and partnership ecosystem.
Translate Catholic theology, Catholic Social Teaching, and the Church's works of mercy into practical, repeatable Care-Sharing models.
Identify, prioritize, and steward national level Catholic partnerships (e.g., dioceses, Catholic Charities, Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent de Paul Society, universities, and movements).
Partner with executive leadership to align Catholic strategy with organizational priorities, funding strategies, and long-term scale.
Strategic Partnerships Oversight
Provide prioritization and executive oversight for CarePortal's Strategic Partnerships function, ensuring focus, alignment, and capacity-aware growth.
Serve as the architect and senior steward of strategic partnerships, owning high-level relationships and partnership strategy.
Enable execution of partnerships through Strategic Partnerships staff, Field teams, and Development, without becoming an operational bottleneck.
Ensure Catholic initiatives and broader strategic partnerships complement one another.
Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate strategic partnerships into CarePortal's platform, field execution, and funding strategies.
Infrastructure, Systems & Enablement
Establish systems, processes, and tools that support scalable partnerships and Catholic initiatives.
Partner with Product, Marketing, Field Operations, and Advancement to ensure initiatives and partnerships are effectively launched and sustained.
Define and monitor success indicators tied to children served, needs met, and overall community and economic impact.
Team Leadership
Directly manage Strategic Partnerships team members, setting priorities, success metrics, and accountability.
Build scalable systems and processes that support partnership growth, replication, and sustainability.
Anticipate future partnership opportunities and guide thoughtful team expansion as appropriate.
QualificationsExperience & Skills
8–10+ years of experience in strategy, partnerships, or leadership roles within Catholic institutions, apostolates, or networks.
Deep understanding and knowledge of the Church, including theology, culture, structures, hierarchy, and social teaching.
Proven experience building and scaling relationships and partnerships across complex organizations.
Demonstrated ability to move from vision to execution by building relationships and systems.
Leadership & Catholic Presence
Strong relational credibility with Catholic leaders at the parish, diocesan, and national levels.
Strategic thinker with the ability to design scalable models in mission driven environments.
Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to represent CarePortal with clarity, humility, and conviction.
Comfort operating in ambiguity and building new capacity from the ground up.
Personal Alignment
Practicing Catholic in good standing, or individual with deep lived experience and trust within Catholic contexts.
Passion for CarePortal's mission and commitment to the organization's values of Courage, Humility, and Excellence.
A posture of servant leadership that is confident, relational, and grounded in purpose.
Measuring Success (Sample 24-Month Outcomes):
Demonstrated growth and progress toward multiplying Catholic engagement, including increased participation across dioceses, parishes, universities, and national Catholic organizations.
Successful launch and evaluation of 3–5 Catholic pilots (diocesan, parish, or university-based) with clear pathways to national replication.
Clear prioritization and health of CarePortal's Strategic Partnerships portfolio, with partnerships aligned to organizational objectives, capacity, and long-term impact.
Strong partnership performance across key portfolios (e.g., Crux Code and other strategic partners), with measurable outcomes tied to children served, needs met, and economic impact.
Well-functioning Strategic Partnerships team with clear roles, accountability, and readiness to scale as new opportunities emerge.
Effective cross-functional execution, with Field and Advancement teams successfully activating partnerships stewarded by this role.
Final Word:
The Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships & Catholic Initiatives is called to architect, prioritize, and steward initiatives and partnerships that will shape CarePortal's next chapter of growth. This is not about managing transactions, but about building durable relationships, scalable systems, and shared ownership across teams.
