Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff, ensuring smooth and efficient clinic operations. Your energetic approach will help facilitate patient care, manage schedules, and support the doctor in our busy GI practice. Your expertise in medical administrative support combined with a passion for delivering exceptional patient service will contribute to a positive healthcare experience for all.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and assist with appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations across outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Manage patient intake processes by collecting accurate medical histories, vital signs, and insurance information using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Prepare and organize medical documentation, including progress notes, referral letters, and test results such as X-ray reports.
- Coordinate with the doctor to facilitate patient flow, including assisting with procedures like medication administration.
- Maintain detailed records of patient interactions, ensuring compliance with HIPAA.
- Handle phone calls professionally to answer inquiries about services..
- Prepare documentation for procedures conducted in specialized areas such as the OR (Operating Room), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or geriatrics clinics.
- Ensure the timely processing of referrals and follow-up appointments for diverse specialties including medical-surgical units or internal medicine clinics.
- Performing intake assessments involving vital signs measurement, and basic patient care procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Medical Secretary or in a similar medical administrative role in outpatient clinics, or urgent care settings.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and proficiency in medical terminology is essential for accurate documentation and communication.
- Demonstrated ability to handle fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail in record keeping and patient interactions.
Pay: $ $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
