Job Summary

The Associate Director of Clinical Services plays a key leadership role within our mental health services agency and is responsible for the clinical management the agency's Full-Service Program (FSP), a community-based program catering to the mental health needs of youth and their families.

The Associate Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the overall provision of high quality clinical services at their designated clinic site and shall offer supervision, mentorship, motivation, and skills-building resources to their LPHA and LPHA-waived clinical staff. The role involves close collaboration with staff and managers of related departments to effectively carry out our flexible integrated treatment modality and foster optimal outcomes for those we serve. The Associate Director will also be a critical bridge between agency clinicians and community partners (e.g., Sacramento County Contracts Monitor, School Districts, Child Protective Services, Probation, Psychiatric and Medical Providers, the Sacramento County Access team and other mental health providers).

Working in concert with the Director of Clinical Services, the Associate Director will adopt a continuous improvement strategy to ensure excellence in all aspects of service delivery. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years full-time experience in community-based intensive mental health

services.

  • At least 3 years as a Clinical Program Manager preferred.
  • Preferred training and certification in Evidence-Based Practices (TF-CBT, Strengthening Families, DBT, etc.).
  • Proven leadership in clinical settings, both in-office and community-based.
  • Experience with youth and adults with a range of mental health symptoms/behaviors.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Capacity to provide on-site community-based clinical support as needed.
  • Familiarity with systems of care (CPS, Foster Care, Probation, and school environments).
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR), SmartCare.
  • Commitment to Trauma-Informed Care and embodying a healing organization.
  • Strong interpersonal, crisis management, and leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrated practice of Trauma-Informed Care principles.
  • Highly motivated, resilient, flexible and adaptable to the demands of an intensive program.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Understanding of key customer service practices, such as assessing client needs, ensuring high-quality service, and measuring how satisfied customers are with the service they receive.

  • Experience in personnel recruitment, selection, and training.
  • Competence in leading team meetings, training, and fostering staff motivation.
  • Familiarity with office management and administrative procedures including efficient organizational systems and processes.
  • Awareness with how people behave and perform, understanding everyone's unique skills, personalities, and interests, how we learn and stay motivated, ways to research these topics, and how to evaluate and address various emotional and behavioral issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in various methods as appropriate for the type of communication and audience.

Typical Duties:

  • Oversight and supervision of Clinical Program Managers, as assigned.
  • Bridging agency clinicians with external partners: schools, CPS, courts, and healthcare providers.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Clinical Services to hone program goals.
  • Supervising clinical staff and enforcing the Core Practice Model.
  • Leading with positivity, organization, and excellent communication.
  • Ensuring compliance with documentation, timelines, and client service productivity goals.
  • Providing backup for the crisis support line.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments for children, parents, and caregivers, determining diagnoses in line with current DSM criteria. Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of direct clinical staff; LPHA and MHRS job classified staff.

o Ensure clinicians clearly communicate assessment results to families and caregivers, setting up agreements for treatment.

o Ensure clinicians deliver specialized psychotherapy to children and adults, utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques including individual, play, family, group, and conjoint therapy.

o Ensure clinicians engage in milieu therapy, offering targeted behavioral management and intervention strategies.

o Ensure clinicians act as advocates for the well-being and rights of children and parents.

o Ensure clinicians actively participate in case planning sessions, contributing to the evaluation of patient progress and the formulation of follow-up care strategies. o Ensure all clinical documentation is meticulously recorded and kept current. o Ensure clinicians attend and contribute to mandatory meetings and professional supervision sessions.

o Ensure clinicians collaborate with families and community agencies to align and coordinate treatment efforts, ensuring comprehensive care.

Develop and maintain computerized record management systems to store and process data, such as personnel activities and information, such as productivity, client records and compliance reports.

  • Review and authorizing staff expenditures and submit to finance using agency expense platform, as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of advances in behavioral health techniques and strategies, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes and offerings of the agency.
  • Establish work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space, and equipment availability.
  • Maintain communication between administration and clinical staff, and department heads by attending management/leadership meetings and coordinating interdepartmental functioning.
  • Oversee and manage agency's physical location, ensuring optimal functioning facilities by working with necessary cross functional teams such as Clinical Operations Manager and Facilities Maintenance.
  • Develop instructional materials and conduct in-service and community-based clinical and educational programs, as needed.
  • If qualified, act as BBS Clinical Supervisor designee for all unlicensed clinicians with Sacramento County.
  • As needed, travel to other agency locations to provide coverage due to program needs.

Education/Certificates:

  • Preferred licensure of an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT license for a minimum of 2 years, or

similar credentials recognized by the California Board of Behavioral Science.

  • Preferred master's degree in social work or related field.
  • Education and experience may be considered in lieu of licensure and collegiate degree.

Screening Requirement and Employment Conditions:

  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Must successfully complete Tuberculosis (TB) testing to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations with clinic partners.
  • Applicants are required to successfully complete a Live Scan background check as a condition of employment. This involves fingerprinting for the purpose of accessing criminal history records from the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our clients. The Live Scan process must be completed, and results returned as clear before any employment offer is finalized.

Work Environment:

While the primary duties are conducted within a business office setting, the position requires a flexible approach to provide support to clinical staff in various community settings including outreach, county meetings, child and family team meetings, family court, and clients' homes to meet program needs effectively.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $115,000.00 per year
