Mendocino Railway is the owner/operator of passenger and freight railroads, including the River Fox Train, which operates between West Sacramento and Woodland along the Sacramento River. Our office is located at 18095 County Road 117, West Sacramento, CA 95691, just off I-5 at Exit 22.

We are a unique entertainment venue looking for outgoing, service-oriented individuals with a passion for hospitality to join our crew as part-time Servers. Servers provide exceptional table-side service and ensure guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience aboard our trains.

As an entertainment venue, we require staff to have night, weekend, and holiday availability. Our most popular events occur around Easter, Halloween, and Christmas, and schedules may adjust during these times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(May vary depending on event or train service)

  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.
  • Stay guest-focused and deliver an excellent dining experience.
  • Provide friendly and efficient table service to guests aboard the train.
  • Run food and beverages from service areas to guests promptly and accurately.
  • Efficiently process transactionsusing our Square POS system.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and assist with assigned side work.
  • Assist with preparing train cars and stations for themed events.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and overall appearance of train cars and station areas.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Have 1 year bar tending experience
  • RBS Certification
  • Food Safety certified
  • Ability to maintain flexibility in carrying out daily job duties
  • Able to ride the train
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Ability to use smart phone apps
  • Be willing to work around large equipment like Railcars (After safety training)

Other Requirements

  • This position works primarily on weekends — must be available Fridays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays, including some holidays and evenings.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces and various terrain (gravel, dirt, boardwalks, etc.).
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs safely.
  • Ability to climb and descend stairs.
  • Able to stand and walk for several hours at a time.
  • Must be able to perform duties safely while on a moving train.
