Our School 

Houston Classical Charter School ("Houston Classical") was chartered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to open in Houston in August 2020 beginning with kindergarten and first grade. The school has an accomplished and committed Board, which includes a founding Board and a Head of School. We are looking for experienced, dedicated, and motivated individuals who are excited by the challenge of being part of a new school. Houston Classical is founded on the idea that scholars can learn at a high level notwithstanding their zip code or background.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Demonstrate an unwavering belief that all scholars can achieve their highest potentialImplement a rigorous, inquiry-based curriculum that aligns with classical education principles, integrating core subjects such as ELA, Math, and HumanitiesDesign lessons that engage scholars through Socratic questioning, interactive discussions, and hands-on activitiesTailor instruction creatively to provide high-quality, meaningful learning experiencesEstablish and uphold rigorous academic and behavioral expectations for all scholarsCreate rigorous, inquiry-based lessons that foster critical thinking and explorationQuickly adjust lessons and teaching methods to promote academic and emotional growthConsider diverse learning styles when planning lessons, ensuring all scholars can engage fullyDevelop and sustain a clean, organized, and scholar-centered classroom environmentEmbrace receiving and giving feedback to foster professional growthParticipate actively in learning opportunities with colleagues, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvementMaintain impeccable attendance and punctuality standardsExhibit superior communication skills to engage with scholars, families, and colleaguesApproach all tasks with dedication and diligence

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (required)Experience working with scholars in testing grades preferredPrevious experience in educational or youth development settings is a plusExhibit integrity, self-awareness, resilience, and perseveranceAbility to take and implement feedback swiftlyA strong commitment to the belief that all children can achieve their highest potentialOpen to challenging the status quo and eager to work in a collaborative environmentTexas state certification or eligibility is preferred
