Organization: Mental Health America of Southeast Florida

Mental Health America of Southeast Florida is seeking a Forensic Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with lived experience of recovery who is passionate about supporting others in navigating their own paths to wellness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a role model, demonstrating competency in personal recovery and effective coping skills.
  • Provide peer support, advocacy, and consumer information to individuals in outpatient, emergency room, inpatient, and jail settings.
  • Assist peers of all ages in retaining independence within the community and gaining mastery over their recovery journey.
  • Deliver WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) and WHAM (Whole Health Action Management) services.
  • Collaborate effectively with individuals involved in the county jail system and across community-based settings.
  • Support care coordination by communicating with team members and sharing relevant data.
  • Collect and report performance measurement data to track outcomes and program effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Certified Peer Specialist in good standing with the Florida Certification Board.
  • Lived experience with mental health recovery and the ability to share personal experiences as a tool for supporting others.
  • Familiarity with WRAP and WHAM models required.
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in both clinical and community settings, including correctional environments.
  • Comfortable with data collection, documentation, and measuring project outcomes.
  • Must be a resident of Broward County.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience as a peer specialist, particularly with forensic or justice-involved populations.
