Job Summary
This position is in the Consumer and Family Affairs (CFA), Department of Behavioral Health (DBH).
CFA is responsible for leadership and direction in planning, developing, and coordinating ways to promote the involvement of consumers - inclusive of family members and young adults - across the Behavioral Health System.
Duties And Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Director, Consumer Affairs, incumbent serves as Consumer Affairs Liaison with responsibility for planning developing and coordinating ways to promote and protect the rights of every consumer and family member who is involved in Saint Elizabeths Hospital's (SEH) mental health system. Coordinates development and implementation of consumer satisfaction surveys. data collection, and interpretation to promote involvement in program planning activities and SEH activities. Promotes advocacy and takes steps to ensure the consumer and the consumer's family is present in all parts of the system through consumer perspective, consumer voice and consumer presence. Provides and/or coordinates consumer education including tenant education, medications education, literacy, employment and other services offered. Serves as ombudsman/referral/advocate, as a peer to navigate the system, provides intervention when there are problems and works to ensure that services are appropriate and accessible.
Qualifications And Experience
This position requires one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position to be filled, and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Consumer Affairs Liaison may be a consumer in recovery who possess psychiatric and life experiences which have provided him/her with the knowledge, skill, and ability to understand mental illness and work successfully with adults in need of mental health services.
EDUCATION
Must possess a High School Diploma or Certificate of Equivalency (GED)

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
