General Statement of Duties:

Provides driving services for Waveny LifeCare Network. Maintains an environment, which is safe and pleasant.

Qualifications and Experience:

Requires a public service driver's license. Must be able to read maps. Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written assignments and the ability to perform routine program duties. Must be able to work with demonstrated compassion and patience with facility clients. Individual must possess good judgment and interpersonal skills, ability to perform lifting and other strenuous duties.

Reports To: Director of Therapeutic Recreation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drives residents from Waveny LifeCare Network for outside appointments/activities
  • Checks schedule every morning and afternoon for participant participation and checks map and address routes for efficient, safest and quickest trip
  • Assists residents to and from van ensuring seat belts are securely in place and that wheelchairs are secure
  • Drives safely with no speeding, assuring participants are safe using mirrors for periodic checks. Uses basic first aid when necessary and calls Waveny or ambulance for emergency cases. Uses sound judgment in evaluating situations
  • Logs in schedule book daily those participants who ride the van and the arrival and departure times for end of month State report. Completes State report (DOT) accurately and in a timely manner
  • Interacts with participants' caregivers on a daily basis, in an attentive, competent manner. Maintains and continually upgrades self and makes changes in assuring needs are met in department and job field.
  • Supports, promotes, and projects guest relations and positive images to all visitors, residents, and other Waveny LifeCare Network personnel.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
