A growing private equity firm is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant with 1–3 years of accounting experience to support both management company accounting and private equity fund accounting functions. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accountant to gain broad exposure across corporate finance, fund operations, and the full investment lifecycle, while working directly with the CFO.

Although the role is primarily remote, we prefer candidates located in Fairfield County, CT, since weekly in-person meetings with the CFO take place in Fairfield County.

Key Responsibilities

Management Company Accounting


• Assist with monthly and quarterly close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.


• Support AP/AR processing, expense coding, and vendor management.


• Prepare internal financial statements and support budgeting/forecasting efforts.


• Maintain cash activity schedules and assist with treasury functions.


• Support annual audit and tax processes with external auditors and tax advisors.

Private Equity Fund Accounting


• Assist with quarterly fund reporting, including capital account statements, financial statements, and supporting workpapers.


• Track portfolio company activity, capital calls, distributions, and fund-level expenses.


• Maintain and reconcile partner capital accounts.


• Support investment valuations and fair value reporting.


• Prepare documentation for investor requests, compliance needs, and regulatory filings.


• Coordinate with third-party fund administrators as needed.

Qualifications


• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.


• 1–3 years of accounting experience; public accounting or investment firm experience a plus.


• Solid understanding of GAAP; familiarity with investment or fund accounting preferred.


• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial systems.


• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
