Implement and contribute to the planning of assigned data analysis components of medium to large-scale, complex research projects for ETS researchers, testing program areas, and external clients. Data analysts are assigned to work on projects individually or as part of a team, for long or short periods of time depending on the requirements of the project and the specialized skills of the analysts involved.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Implement and contribute to the planning of assigned data analysis components of medium- to large-scale, complex research projects requiring the development of complex data analysis systems.
  • Consult with area senior data analysis staff in the application, modification, and design of such systems using established technologies from diverse fields
  • Contribute to the planning of the schedule of tasks required to complete major components of large-scale, complex data analyses.
  • Work effectively in a team setting with researchers, testing program areas, and external clients and take an active role in contributing to team discussions and decisions.
  • Analyze, design, modify, develop, document and implement technologies for executing medium- to large-scale, complex research and development data analyses/methodologies. Identify unusual data analysis situations and problems and develop solutions.
  • Consult area- or division-wide on the development of technologies for executing medium- to large scale, complex research and development data analysis projects/methodologies.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and/or the implementation and support of new hardware/software/data analysis methodologies to support research system development.
  • Contribute to the preparation of data analysis components of proposals and cost/resource estimates.
  • Maintain continuing awareness of recent advances in numerical analysis, computer science and statistical technologies.
  • Assist with area-wide staff training and development initiatives through one-on-one mentoring and/or small group training exercises.
  • Implement components of technical documentation of data analysis systems, solutions and results.
  • May be responsible for developing full technical documentation of data analysis systems, solutions, and results

Experience and Skills:

  • Cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Data management manipulation & analysis packages such as R, Pythong, Stata, or SAS;
  • Able to apply with minimal supervision. Advanced knowledge may be required for selected projects.

Education

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics, or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
  • Four to five years of diverse experience in data analysis, handling increasingly more complex and diverse research and development data analyses is necessary.
