Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company's accounts receivable processes, ensuring accurate billing, collections, and reconciliation. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial software, and excellent communication skills to maintain positive relationships with clients and internal teams. Responsibilities
- Manage and process accounts receivable transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Prepare and send invoices accurately in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are properly recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Follow up on overdue accounts through negotiation and effective communication with clients to secure timely payments.
- Maintain detailed records of collection activities and client interactions for audit purposes.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures related to revenue recognition and account analysis.
- Support the revenue cycle management process by coordinating with medical billing, governmental accounting, or non-profit accounting teams as needed.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and other regulatory requirements related to financial reporting.
- Collaborate with other departments such as accounts payable, finance, and customer service to resolve billing issues efficiently.
- Perform data entry tasks with high accuracy, including journal entries and account reconciliation activities.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounts receivable or related financial roles within public accounting, corporate accounting, or financial services environments.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms is essential.
- Knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding (for medical billing), and revenue cycle management is preferred.
- Experience working with medical collections, government contracts, or non-profit organizations is a plus.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to perform account analysis and account reconciliation efficiently.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with professional phone etiquette for client interactions.
- Ability to handle high-volume data entry (10 key typing) accurately while maintaining attention to detail.
