Job DescriptionWork Arrangement: Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, Michigan three times per week, at minimum.The Role:We are seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of ABS Cal Technical Specialist, within GM's Active Chassis organization at Milford Proving Grounds.The ABS Cal Technical Specialist is responsible for leading a team of ABS Calibration Engineers to produce high-quality, on-time deliverables for all vehicle programs using common methods, processes, and procedures. The selected candidate will also have a unique opportunity to develop future ABS performance features and control strategies, as well as retain ownership of selected vehicle calibration responsibilities within the team.Candidates should possess comprehensive experience with ABS controls performance, evaluation, validation, vehicle dynamics, & calibration experience in a complex technology area, along with demonstrated leadership, planning, communication, teamwork, and prioritization skills.What You'll Do:Champion the safety of our employees and customersTechnical leader for ABS Calibration for all IBAC (GM in-house brake control) vehicle programsLead ABS calibration strategic direction and support associated algorithm development for the feature areaDevelop common approaches and institutionalize them in Calibration Standard Work (Calibration Procedures, LADV, Deliverables, Master Calibration, etc.)Improve the efficiency and quality of Standard Work by systematically driving present vehicle-based tasks into virtual SiL, HiL and CoSim work packagesMentor Calibration Engineers, providing technical training and establish good communication and knowledge-sharingSupport the resolution of ABS development issuesServe as a technical leader in multiple forumsSupport and approve software change requests related to ABSDefine major calibration variants on each programDevelop GVBR vehicle usage requestsDevelop feature rollout plansSupport technical calibration peer reviews and leadership reviewsSupport Calibration Engineers to ensure high-quality, on-time deliveries and flawless launchesSupport resolution of vehicle, plant, service, and customer issuesProvide input to VTS, STS, SSTS, and CTS specifications as applicableEnsure compliance with government regulations and GM policiesDocument and integrate Lessons Learned from development and field issues into algorithms and Calibration Standard WorkActively participate in ATW and Advanced Calibration projects related to ABSAdhere to all safety precautions and requirements, treating safety as the top priority during all work activitiesYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar5+ years of relevant engineering experience (vehicle dynamics, chassis/driveline performance, brake controls, calibration, etc.)Thorough physics-based knowledge of vehicle dynamics and performanceExperience calibrating ABS on production programsThorough knowledge / understanding of ABS algorithms and control philosophiesDemonstrated ability to lead, coordinate and motivate the performance of a cross-functional team and achieve substantial influence without administrative authorityExercises independent judgment with minimal input from leadersDemonstrated ability to provide technical direction to other engineers and engineering support personnelVery high level of analytical problem-solving skills where problems are unusual and difficultDemonstrated ability to develop and execute new processesCreates and maintains an environment that enables all participants to contribute to full potentialHands-on experience with vehicle dynamics performance, limit handling, and off-road performanceStrong experience with Matlab/Simulink, C++, and CarSimFluent with in-vehicle development tools (INCA, NeoVI, etc.)GM Level 3 & OR1 driverWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar8+ years of relevant engineering experience (vehicle dynamics, chassis/driveline performance, brake controls, calibration, etc.)Experience working in multiple functional areas within controls/calibrationExperience developing/executing GM standard calibration processesGM Level 4 & OR2 driverGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
