Mandatory Required Qualifications/Duties

● At least 1 year of experience working with clients Developmental Delays or 1 year working in a group home/residential facility (level 4I preferably). Provide resume with work experience with 2 references

● At least 18 years of age

● High school diploma or GED

● CPR certification (adult&peds)

● First Aid certification

● Water Safety certification (can obtain prior to 1st day of work)

● Pass the fingerprint clearance and criminal record statement (can obtain prior to 1st day of work)

● TB test/health screening (can obtain prior to 1st day of work)

● A valid California driver's license- good driver record

  • DSP I certification recommended (required)

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated caregiver to provide essential support to individuals at Sanwal Group Homes. The ideal candidate will have experience in a residential or group home with developmental delays (level 4I preferably) and the ability to assist clients with daily living activities while ensuring their comfort and dignity. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly those with disabilities or conditions such as for children who have developmental, cognitive and physical delays.

Qualifications and Duties

● Direct supervision of all clients at all times

● Managing client timelines, schedules, etc.

● Reasonable and prudent parent

● Initial (24 hrs) and continuing (20 hrs) education and training will be provided. 8 hour initial training in the first week of hire, continuing initial 16 hour training within the first 60 days of hire and 20 hours of annual training provided by Sanwal Group Homes Inc. Training includes Behavioral Management course, such as MAB, Direct Support Professional (DSP), Mandated Abuse Reporters, etc.

● Excellent communication skills. Communicate effectively in written and oral form. Able to use cell phones, IPAD, general computer skills, email, etc. proficiently

● Providing individual care to each clients needs

● Homemaker duties- Cooking, house cleaning, laundering, maintenance of the home, meal prep, budgeting, organization, time management, organizing,

● Office duties- Daily note taking, completing daily logs (water heater temp, visitor log, etc.), incident reporting, notation of progress or worsening of behaviors, etc.

● Management of clients activities of daily life. Able to provide choices or assistance with activities. Assist the administrator with supplies, equipment, transportation, etc. Able to plan activities effectively

● Promote community involvement in programs

● Being a mandated reporter- able to recognize physical, emotional or financial abuse

● Attending client and staff meetings

● Driving clients to school, activities, appointments, etc.

● Teaching clients daily life skills for growth in proper transition into adulthood

● Maintaining and supervising accurate P&I funds

● If the administrator is absent from the facility the House Manager is the designated substitute for the administrator

● Able to recognize and care for emergent/urgent needs

● Follow proper chain of command, unless emergency situation

● Provide updates to administrator, licensee, authorized representative, etc.

● Reliable transportation to and from work

● Empathetic, compassionate, flexible and has a lot of patience working with special needs population

● Teamwork, problem-solving skills and flexible

● Professional and ethical

● Physical stamina (ability to lift, transfer, etc.)-statement of good health

● Respect for diversity (gender, religion, culture, etc.)

● Knowledge of Title 22 regulations and Sanwal Group Homes Inc. program design

● Assisting the administrator in maintaining and updating all client and employee files

● Building positive rapport with other staff, clients, authorized representatives, clients family, friends, etc.

● Assist the administrator with training other new staff

● Ensure proper medication assistance, recognizing side effects or adverse effects, etc.

● Assist the administrator in providing adequate care, supervision, safety, and guidance of clients with disabilities including visual and auditory deficiencies

● Assist the administrator in direct client screening, participation in all IPP meetings or appointing an appropriate designee, and ensuring all necessary reports are completed

● Serve as liaison between clients, state/VMRC representatives, and family

● Assist with homework, tutoring, etc.

● Maintaining a home like environment

● Crisis intervention- able to recognize triggers, de-escalate challenging behaviors, manage an ongoing crisis and provide post-care for return to normalcy for client

● Monitor and report ongoing health needs and behavioral problems
