Convention Sales Internship

Louisville Tourism, the official destination marketing organization for Louisville, Kentucky, aims to strengthen the city's economy through tourism. Their mission is to promote Louisville as a top destination for conventions, trade shows, corporate meetings, sporting events, group tours and individual leisure travel.

Summary: The Convention Sales Intern position will support the entire Convention Sales Department, including specific projects with the Sales Coordinator and Sales Information Manager. This position will help support the department in all aspects of the sales process. The work schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8:30 – 5:00 pm, with no more than a total of 24 hours per week. Pay is $14 per hour and parking is provided.

This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in convention sales, hospitality operations, and customer relationship management. The intern will develop professional skills in client service, event coordination, and tourism industry operations.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in pre-tradeshow preparation, including packing and shipping items to show sites
  • Assist the Sales Coordinator with inventory and coordination of the gift closet
  • Work with the Sales Managers, Directors, and Assistants on meeting and client site visit preparation
  • Experience shadowing on sites visits and client meetings
  • Help with FAM's or other special events preparation and on-site assistance
  • Arrange and deliver gifts to hotels for customers
  • Research projects as needed for the Regional Directors
  • Assist the Sales Information Manager with projects within the CRM/ Sales database
  • Handle specific projects, including tradeshow follow-up and entering CRM data
  • Assist in general office tasks
  • Support the team in maintaining accurate and organized records, reports, and communications related to sales activity.
  • Other duties and projects as needed

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with data entry
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet research
  • Comfortable speaking with customers/people over the phone
  • Experience in hospitality/tourism industry a plus

Eligibility and Duration:

  • This position is ideal for current college students pursuing degrees in hospitality, tourism, marketing, business administration, or a related field.
  • The internship is intended to run for a standard academic semester (approximately 12–6 weeks), with flexible start and end dates based on school schedules.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.
