Compensation: $180k–$200k base + ~$300k–$400k in equity over 4 years

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on, senior-level Data Infrastructure Engineer to architect and manage the real-time data systems that power an AI-driven storytelling platform. This is a ground-floor opportunity to help scale core infrastructure for a well-funded startup focused on democratizing creative expression through advanced generative AI.

You'll work side by side with product, AI, and engineering teams in a high-trust, high-collaboration environment to solve challenging data problems that directly impact user experience and content intelligence.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain large-scale real-time data pipelines and streaming systems

  • Architect fault-tolerant, low-latency infrastructure for high-throughput use cases such as user telemetry, A/V data, and content analytics

  • Own the full data stack—from ingestion to transformation, monitoring, and visualization

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to inform product and AI features with reliable, actionable data

  • Optimize for reliability, scale, and observability across all critical data paths

Ideal Background

  • 5–10 years of experience in data engineering or infrastructure roles

  • Strong foundation in streaming technologies such as AWS Kinesis, SQS, or Kafka

  • Experience with modern data stacks: Redshift or Snowflake, Dagster or Airflow, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry

  • Fluent in Python and SQL; PostgreSQL experience preferred

  • Prior experience in fast-moving startups, especially those working with real-time data or consumer-facing AI features

  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, on-site team environment

Preferred Experience

  • Ownership of streaming data systems in production

  • Consumer platform experience (especially involving audio, video, or generative media)

  • Containerized environments with Docker and Kubernetes

  • Strong instincts around data quality, security, and performance
