About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our neurodiagnostic team as a Trainee Transcranial Doppler (TCD) Technician. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates eager to develop skills in neurovascular imaging and patient care. You will receive comprehensive, hands-on training in performing TCD studies, which measure cerebral blood flow to assist in diagnosing and monitoring neurological and vascular conditions.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn to operate TCD ultrasound equipment under supervision.
  • Assist in preparing patients for procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Follow established scanning protocols to obtain accurate and high-quality data.
  • Observe and record cerebral blood flow velocity measurements.
  • Maintain accurate patient and procedural documentation in accordance with hospital, company and regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to infection control, patient privacy, and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions, workshops, and competency assessments.
  • Support senior staff in equipment care, calibration, and troubleshooting.

Training Provided

  • Fundamentals of cerebrovascular anatomy and physiology.
  • TCD scanning techniques and probe placement.
  • Recognition of normal and abnormal flow patterns.
  • Understanding clinical indications for TCD studies (e.g., stroke, vasospasm, sickle cell screening).
  • Patient communication and care best practices.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (health sciences coursework preferred).
  • Strong interest in medical imaging, neuroscience, or vascular diagnostics.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and reporting.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Previous experience in healthcare, patient care, or diagnostic imaging.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Coursework or degree in physiology, anatomy, biomedical science, or related field.

Career Development

Successful trainees will have the opportunity to progress to a Certified Transcranial Doppler Technologist role, with potential to specialize in neurosonography and advance within the neurology or vascular diagnostics field.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily clinical setting (hospital, diagnostic center, or neurology clinic).
  • Some standing, walking, and light equipment handling required.
  • Occasional flexible hours to accommodate patient scheduling.
