Position Overview

WCMS is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health Nurse III (OHN III) to support a large industrial worksite. This advanced, autonomous nursing role delivers daily occupational health clinic operations, injury/illness management, employee wellness services, and emergency response. The position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating with facility leadership, HR, and Environmental Health & Safety teams.

This is a full-time, on-site role initially based in Lafayette, IN for 1–2 months during orientation before transitioning permanently to Lebanon, IN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive occupational nursing services for work-related and non–work-related illness and injury.
  • Function as an autonomous clinical decision-maker with the ability to respond independently to most daily demands.
  • Lead or support on-site medical emergency response.
  • Serve as the on-site liaison with contracted medical providers and external clinical partners.
  • Oversee daily clinic operations, maintain organization, and delegate basic clinic tasks as appropriate.
  • Conduct new hire orientation presentations and maintain required medical metrics, documentation, and reporting.
  • Serve as a local medical resource supporting HR, Safety, and facility leadership initiatives.
  • Assist with disability case management and return-to-work coordination.
  • Support investigations, work-relatedness determinations, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Deliver wellness messaging and support onsite wellness programs.
  • Conduct drug testing, fit-for-duty evaluations, and OSHA-mandated or other medical surveillance exams.
  • Participate in special projects, audits, and program development tasks.
  • Seek opportunities to elevate clinic performance and implement best-in-class occupational medical practices.
  • May participate on the facility's Emergency Response Team (ERT).

Qualifications – Required

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the State of Indiana.
  • 3–5 years of clinical experience (occupational health preferred but not required).
  • Strong clinical skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to learn and use online systems.
  • CPR Certification.

Qualifications – Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Occupational health or acute care background with progressive responsibility.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ADA, ergonomics, EH&S, HR processes, health promotion, EMS, or training.
  • DOT Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $50-$55/hr.
  • Benefits: Full-time positions at WCMS are benefit-eligible, including medical, dental, vision, PTO, and retirement plan options.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (flexibility may be required).
  • Occasional on-call support may be requested.
  • On-site clinical environment inside a large industrial facility.
  • Local travel between Lafayette and Lebanon (0–25%) during the transition period.
  • Reports to the WCMS Medical Manager.
