Position Summary

This dual-role position supports kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation while also maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. The role is essential to ensuring efficient food production, sanitation standards, and overall guest satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Kitchen Support
  • Wash, peel, cut, and prepare vegetables and fruits.
  • Clean, cut, grind, and portion meats, poultry, and seafood.
  • Prepare cold sauces, dressings, salads, desserts, garnishes, and pantry items.
  • Assist with soups, sauces, breading, and basic cooking tasks as directed.
  • Prepare food orders accurately and efficiently based on tickets from waitstaff.
  • Support chefs and cooks with daily food production and banquet preparation.
  • Learn and follow menus, recipes, preparation methods, and presentation standards.
  • Prepare food for upcoming shifts and anticipated business volume.
  • Store food properly, following temperature, rotation, and food safety guidelines.
  • Ensure all food leaves the kitchen in peak condition.
Stewarding, Sanitation & Facility Support
  • Wash pots, pans, trays, dishes, glassware, and utensils by hand or using dish machines.
  • Scrape, sort, rack, and properly sanitize all dishware and kitchen equipment.
  • Sweep and mop floors regularly; clean worktables, walls, refrigerators, and equipment.
  • Remove trash, clean garbage containers, and maintain waste areas.
  • Sort and dispose of bottles and recyclables as required.
  • Put away clean utensils, dishes, and supplies in designated areas.
  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
  • Assist with banquet setup and breakdown when needed.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines and wear required safety equipment when handling chemicals.
General Expectations
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work environment at all times.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and uniform compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and management.
  • Report to scheduled shifts on time and in proper uniform.
  • Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to safely and skillfully use kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and simple instructions.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and portioning ingredients.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistency and attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
  • Ability to take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work performed.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to transport food, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds overhead and 10–25 pounds routinely.
Work Environment

  • Indoor kitchen environment with exposure to:

  • High heat (up to and exceeding 100 degrees)

  • Temperature fluctuations
  • Wet and humid conditions
  • Fast-paced environment requiring stamina and adaptability.
