Pharmacy Technician

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team at a Correctional Facility. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in a structured, secure environment by supporting the delivery of essential pharmaceutical care to the inmate/patient population.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a Pharmacist or Pharmacist-in-Charge, your duties will include:
- Receiving and processing prescription/medical orders
- Establishing and updating patient medication profiles
- Verifying prescriptions for completeness, legality, and accuracy
- Compounding and preparing medications
- Labeling, packaging, and dispensing prescriptions
- Performing intermediate checks during medication processing
- Maintaining drug inventory and pharmacy records
- Reviewing stock for expired medications
- Delivering and organizing medications for nursing staff
- Assisting in identifying and resolving medication-related issues
- Performing other duties as assigned
Duties
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including IV infusions, while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Provide excellent patient service by answering inquiries and offering guidance on medication usage and side effects.
- Maintain accurate medication records and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage inventory by monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and ensuring proper storage of medications.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support patient care initiatives in hospital or LTC pharmacy settings.
- Conduct medication intake assessments and assist in medication administration as directed by licensed personnel.
- Utilize critical care experience to support patients with complex medication needs in acute care environments.
- Stay updated on medical terminology and pharmacy practices to enhance service delivery.

Pay: $ $21.00 per hour
