Duties:

- Assist optometrist with patient care, including taking patient history and performing preliminary tests

- Making and modifying patient appointments

- Perform medical coding and billing tasks

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records

- Provide support at the front desk, including scheduling appointments and answering phone calls

  • Verification of patient insurance benefits

  • Greeting patients at check-in and preparing them for the next steps in their visit

  • Performing patient check-out including explaining visit summary and next steps

  • Assist with retail sales of eyewear and contact lenses, utilizing knowledge of retail math
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents

Requirements:

- Previous experience as an optometric assistant, eye technician, eye care assistant, front desk receptionist or in a similar role is preferred but not required

- Knowledge of medical coding and billing procedures is helpful

- Familiarity with medical optometry or ophthalmology is a plus

- Strong sales skills and ability to assist with retail sales of eyewear and/or contact lenses

- Proficiency in using Revolution or similar electronic medical record systems

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
