General Manager

The General Manager is a key member of the senior leadership team responsible for bridging high level goals with day-to-day execution by driving nationwide operational excellence, profitable growth, maintaining profitability, building strong teams, while staying compliant and customer focused. Reporting directly to the President, the GM provides strategic and operational leadership over procurement, operations, distribution center management, and sales operations.
Primary Duties:
- Partner with the President to develop and execute company-wide strategies, ensuring alignment across all business units.
- Lead, coach, and develop direct reports:
- Director of Procurement & department
- Director of Operations & department
- Regional District Manager (distribution centers, sales & operations)
- Sales Operations Manager (vending, VMI sales, and inside sales team)
- Foster a high-performance culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee procurement, vendor management, inventory, supply chain optimization, and global sourcing.
- Ensure operational efficiency and compliance across all distribution centers nationwide.
- Implement best practices to drive productivity, accuracy, and safety in operations in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
- Collaborate with Sales Operations Manager to grow VMI and vending programs and strengthen the central inside sales function.
- Partner with Regional District Manager to align distribution centers and branches with company goals for sales growth and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure customer service standards are consistently achieved and improved.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and KPIs across multiple departments.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics to ensure profitability and growth.
- Drive cost efficiencies without compromising service or quality.
- Work closely with Finance, HR, IT, and other Packer Fastener departments to support overall company objectives.
- Lead the Sales & Marketing L10 in collaboration with the Director of Sales & Marketing.
- Champion communication and alignment across geographically dispersed teams.
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations management, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in distribution, industrial supply, or related industries.
- Proven track record of managing large, multi-site operations and cross-functional teams.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and driving profitability.
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen.
- Exceptional leadership and people development skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage complexity and drive results in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite) preferred.
- Willingness to travel for occasional overnight distribution center or branch visits and training events.
- Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must be able to obtain coverage through the company's auto insurance carrier according to the company Driver Safety Policy.
