Mercom is growing rapidly. We are looking for a Senior Account Executive to join our team during this exciting growth phase. This role will have unlimited opportunity for growth and is ideal for someone that is driven, looking to grow with a dynamic organization, and is willing and able to make a substantial, meaningful contribution.
This position is ideal for someone who is looking for a career with leadership potential and is willing to roll up their sleeves to deliver exceptional client results. A minimum of 3 years of agency experience (5 year total communications experience) in developing and implementing communications programs a must.
Senior Account Executive Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all facets of client management, from communicating with clients on a day-to-day basis to developing integrated communication programs and strategies
- Responsible to deliver quality earned media results. Must also proactively identify opportunities to insert clients into the broader trends and news cycles of the day by maintaining a high level of relevant tech industry awareness
- Lead client activity to ensure all goals, strategies and client expectations are met
- Responsible for client retention through relationship building and exceptional results
- Responsible for meeting deadlines on all client work, whether done internally or with outside service providers as needed, including design/creative, editorial, events or any other contracted services
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining client budget.
- From concept to completion, responsible for all written and digital communications pieces including articles, news releases, reports, social media content, presentations, media relations materials, including materials based on complex technological and scientific information.
- Attends meetings and events, including third-party and industry conferences, on behalf of clients and Mercom.
- Facilitate and maintain client schedules and media coordination during conferences and events
- Play a pivotal role in handling many of the day-to-day deliverables for the technology practice's account teams, including content creation and oversight as well as project and account management. You will be a mentor and an example for junior team members
- Recruit, hire, manage and train Interns to become valuable, efficient members of Mercom while they are here.
- Take an active role in ensuring that Mercom's PR program is being executed at the same standard of our client programs.
- Assist in identifying and supporting new business initiatives, including new client proposals
- Manage client reporting – activity report, clips, pipeline, press room updates and ensure reporting is being done on a weekly basis.
- Continuously promote and build the Mercom brand both internally (with internal team members) and externally to the outside world
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of PR agency experience in developing and implementing communications programs, with an emphasis on energy or technology companies.
- Broad technology and B2B business understanding, strong analytical abilities and critical, creative thinking. Candidate should have the ability to engage audiences and tell complex stories in an easily digestible way.
- Proven success working with tech, trade and national business media. A demonstrated hands-on media approach is required.
- Excellent writing abilities with extensive experience in all forms of corporate and executive communications, from news releases to executive talking points.
- The ability to develop and generate support for strategic, comprehensive communications plans that apply creative tactics and use a variety of communication channels, including digital (e-mail, social media, blogs and intranet), print publications and brochures, executive memos, face-to-face meeting scripts/talking points, special events, video, and FAQs.
- Experience managing and coordinating projects with multiple work streams, including managing more junior team members, both directly and indirectly.
- Ability to illustrate a results-focused approach and commitment to going the extra mile for clients. Experience working directly with clients on day-to-day activities.
- Energetic, self-starter and resourceful problem solver – gets things moving and keeps them on track. High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.
- Good interpersonal skills, can work effectively in a team environment, negotiate approvals diplomatically, and maintain composure and quality under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
