We're seeking an experienced
Workday Payroll Consultant
to lead and support payroll implementation and optimization projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment and enjoys solving complex payroll challenges using
Workday
and
CloudPay
solutions.

NO C2C or 1099

SF Bay Area candidates or candidate MUST live in the State of California for this position

Pay is up to $75/hr or DOE

Core Responsibilities

Project Leadership:

  • Lead or support the
    Workday Payroll workstream
    , managing project timelines, deliverables, and client relationships.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align payroll processes across Workday and
    CloudPay
    environments.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks while ensuring successful, on-time delivery.

Requirements Gathering & Design:

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their payroll needs and design scalable, compliant solutions that align with
    industry best practices
    .

Configuration:

  • Configure key
    Workday Payroll components
    , including the Tax Engine, payroll calculations, deductions, and off-cycle processing.
  • Support
    CloudPay integration and configuration
    , ensuring seamless connectivity between systems.

Data Management:

  • Map legacy payroll data, perform
    data conversions
    , and validate results through
    parallel testing
    to ensure accuracy and integrity.

Compliance & Security:

  • Ensure compliance with all
    legal and regulatory payroll standards
    across Workday and CloudPay.
  • Develop and maintain
    security policies
    for sensitive payroll and employee data.

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Build and maintain
    RaaS feeds
    and other custom reports for real-time payroll analytics and executive insights.

Testing & Validation:

  • Conduct thorough end-to-end testing to confirm accuracy, system integration, and functionality before go-live.

Client Support & Training:

  • Train payroll administrators and end users, develop
    runbooks and process documentation
    , and provide post-implementation support.

Troubleshooting:

  • Resolve day-to-day payroll issues and troubleshoot complex integration or processing problems to ensure smooth operations.

Change Management:

  • Assist clients with
    change management strategies
    and user adoption to support transitions to new payroll systems or processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong understanding of
Workday Payroll functionalities
and best practices

Hands-on experience with
Workday configuration
and
CloudPay implementation/integration

Knowledge of
global payroll operations
, tax compliance, and legal reporting requirements

Experience with
data migration
, validation, and testing cycles

Excellent
problem-solving, analytical, and stakeholder management
skills

Ability to translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions

Relevant certifications (e.g.,
Workday Partner Certification
,
CloudPay implementation certification
) are a strong plus

Experience with additional
Workday modules (HCM, Time Tracking, Absence)
preferred
