NEW EMPLOYEES ARE HIRED AT, OR NEAR THE ENTRY POINT SHOWN, DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE.The SCADA Systems Coordinator is responsible for the advanced installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems across water, wastewater, and related utility infrastructure. This position ensures the reliable operation of remote telemetry units (RTUs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, and networked control systems. The SCADA Systems Coordinator also provides technical guidance to junior staff, collaborates with engineers and IT personnel, and assists in the planning and execution of SCADA system upgrades and expansions. Work is performed under general supervision of the Maintenance Reliability Manager.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Install, program, calibrate, and maintain SCADA components including PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, sensors, and communication devices.Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting on SCADA system failures and network communication issues.Manage SCADA servers, historian databases, and associated software platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, Clear SCADA, GE iFIX).Collaborate with IT and Engineering teams to ensure cyber-secure integration of SCADA systems into enterprise routine system backups, updates, and cybersecurity patches.Lead or assist in the design and implementation of new SCADA system enhancements and upgrades.Maintain detailed documentation for all system configurations, modifications, and troubleshooting activities utilizing CMMS programs.Ensure system redundancy, backup, disaster recovery, and failover protocols are in place and functional.Respond to emergency SCADA issues after hours and provide timely resolutions.Diagnose and repair communication issues between SCADA and field devices (e.g., RTUs, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, transmitters).Assist with system integration and upgrades across water and wastewater treatment plants, booster stations, and lift stations.Collaborate with instrumentation and control technicians to calibrate and maintain field devices.Ensure compliance with industry standards, cybersecurity practices, and regulatory requirements.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Associate degree in Electronics, Automation, Computer Science, or a related technical field.Minimum 5–7 years of experience in SCADA systems support and operations in utilities or industrial settings.(A comparable amount of training, education and/or experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.)Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) preferred.Certified Automation Professional (CAP) preferred.Instrumentation and Control Technician Certification preferred.Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley Certifications preferred.Wonderware / AVEVA SCADA Certifications preferred.Data Flow Systems Certifications preferred.
