About The Role And Our Team
The Senior Director, Retail Marketplace Partnerships & Operations is a key leader responsible for driving the performance, reliability, and growth of our commerce marketplace, integrated retail registry ecosystem, and other strategic partnerships in Travel and Fashion verticals. Reporting directly to the GM, Registry & Wedding Website, this leader oversees marketplace ecosystem strategy and operations, integrated retail partnerships, partner operations, and revenue operations — ensuring every seller and partner engagement contributes meaningfully to revenue, customer experience, and brand trust.

This role blends commercial acumen with operational rigor: part business development strategist, part operator, part integrator. The ideal candidate has deep marketplace or retail-partner experience, thrives in high-growth digital environments, and can translate strategic goals into scalable operational systems.

This leader also partners closely with the New Bets/Strategic Programs team to own and operationalize active strategic partnerships post-launch or pilot — ensuring that high-profile, multi-channel partnerships transition seamlessly from concept to execution to long-term value creation.

Responsibilities
Marketplace Ecosystem Leadership

  • Own end-to-end marketplace strategy and performance, including pipeline development, category expansion, and economics modeling across marketplace categories.
  • Lead partner and seller account management, ensuring best-in-class onboarding, performance optimization, compliance, and retention.
  • Oversee marketplace health and fulfillment quality, ensuring consistency in catalog integrity, pricing standards, and operational compliance.

Integrated Retail & Strategic Partnerships

  • Manage strategic integrated retail registry partnerships, ensuring successful product, merchandising, and data integrations with key retail and registry brands.
  • Lead partner operations for integrated programs, coordinating technical enablement, SLA management, promotions, and shared marketing execution.
  • Partner with Strategic Programs and BD to take on active strategic partnerships post-launch, stewarding them from pilot through scale — aligning goals, troubleshooting performance, and ensuring consistent delivery of partner and customer value.
  • Drive alignment between external partners and internal product, data, and marketing teams to ensure high-fidelity execution and co-marketing ROI.
  • Lead joint business planning and establish an annual partnerships calendar for strategic sellers, retailers and other strategic partners aligning seasonal activation, co-marketing, and revenue objectives with internal and partner roadmaps.

Revenue Operations

  • Oversee all billing and financial operations, including partner invoicing, commissions, and dispute resolution.
  • Partner with Finance and Legal to ensure accuracy, compliance, and accountability in all payment processing, revenue recognition, and reporting processes.
  • Improve scalability of revenue and billing systems that improve efficiency and transparency across the partner network.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Team Management

  • Build and mentor a high-performing team across Operations, Merchandising, Business Development, Seller Success, and Revenue Operations.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Design to translate marketplace and partner needs into scalable platform capabilities.
  • Establish clear R&Rs, escalation paths, and performance standards across all partnership and operations verticals.

Successful Candidates Have

  • 10–15 years of experience in eCommerce, marketplace, or retail partnership leadership roles.
  • Depth and recent experience in partnerships, business development, and negotiation, with proven ability to structure and scale partner programs that drive mutual value.
  • Direct and recent experience in eCommerce — ideally spanning travel, retail, DTC, and/or marketplace environments.
  • Proven success managing cross-functional operations spanning business development, account management, and technical or billing operations.
  • Strong analytical and financial fluency with experience in P&L ownership, pricing, and performance modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to build systems and teams that scale efficiently and deliver measurable business impact.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills — able to influence across technical, commercial, and executive audiences.
  • Experience integrating retailer feeds, APIs, or third-party marketplaces a plus.
